"Turf dc are an exciting new collaboration between two Northern Ireland musicians and three classically trained local musicians playing in a variety of roots based styles. The result is an innovative but strangely familiar sound, which could perhaps be best described as “Celtic Blues”.Incorporating a wide variety of instruments (guitar, slide guitar, banjo, violin, harmonica, bass, drums, djembe, stand up bass), there is an irresistible energy and simplicity to Turf dc’s music. Most impressive is the songwriting, simple timeless songs that could have been written at any point of the last century, but which manage to sound fresh and relevant despite traveling well-trodden paths. It leaves little doubt that they have tapped into a rich musical vein."
