As everyone knows it's important to "feed the soul" once in a while and also challenge yourself. I have started 2 new projects in the past months that keep the creative juices flowing.
The first project is the 365 Project . I am challenging myself to photograph (for myself) every day and keep a daily journal based on the image that I choose. The only restriction is that I have to actually "interact" with what I am photographing. You can follow the 365 Project by bookmarking the following site 365 Project .
The second development is that I am now offering a summer camp/workshop for kids ages 10-13. I am very excited about being able to do this and look forward to sharing my passion of photography (and all the wonderful things that go with it) with kids. Photography is a wonderful way to teach a multitude of skills and also a good way to get kids to write. Children are naturally visual and love the interactive nature of creating an image. Kids also learn to be media savvy when they understand what goes into making the images that they see everyday. Once you show them what photoshop does they understand that what comes out of the camera is not what goes into a magazine or on a billboard. A great revelation for a young mind!
You can find more information on the camps/workshops here .
Both of the projects will be influenced by a workshop that I going to at Duke University in May. Its called Literacy Through Photography and I continue to be fascinated by the work of other photographers who have been involved in the Literacy Through Photography Project. More information on the Literacy through Photography project can be found on www.creativeclickscamp.com .
Here are some recent photos that i took of my daughter playing guitar. They are featured in the 365 Project.
