Its really the day-to-day little things that matter the most. This is why I am doing Day In The Life Sessions. Really, that is how I got into photography in the first place! I would photograph the little moments in my life and the things going on around me and I placed the images in a journal or scrapbook.. When I look at those images they really speak to me and I can often recall so many other things that were happening at that time. Looking through those images still gets me teary eyed and helps me keep things in perspective. Imagine how precious those images will be to me and my family in 10 years!
Today Harry (being home from school because of the snow) asked me if I would take pictures and then help him put them in a book called " a snowy day"... He wanted me to help him document his day so that he could remember it by looking through the images taken today. I was really happy to see that something that I have taught my kids has actually gotten through!!
If you think that you might be interested in a Day in the Life session for your family just give us a call. We are happy to talk to you about it and what is involved.
Here is a slide show from the Day in the Life Session with the Ngaruri-Kenney family. Melissa Kenney Ngaruri and Jeff (David) Ngaruri Kenney met while Jeff was trying to gain political asylum in the United States. The story is a long fascinating one and you could read Jeff's book which is co-written by Philip Schrag called "Asylum Denied: A Refugee's Struggle for Safety in America" for that version.
I had a great day with Melissa, Jeff and Mackenzie. I was there when Mackenzie woke up and he sprang into bed with mom and dad for some suggle time, followed by breakfast and playtime downstairs. We spent the afternoon playing at a farm and enjoying the beautiful fall weather. We were pretty wiped out after that so we headed back for naps (yes..everyone except Jeff!). Melissa especially needed a nap since she was pregnant at the time! After our naps Mackenzie did some homework and we walked to the local supermarket to get ingredients for dinner. Melissa and Jeff live in a great little community in Germantown where you can just walk through the park to the grocery store! Mackenzie thoroughly enjoys his walks with mom and dad to the store and also likes to look at all the colorful things in the grocery store. We headed back home and spent the rest of the evening hanging out, eating great food and alas...getting Mackenzie ready for bed!
Thank you Melissa and Jeff for having me!
